Podcast publishing errors

When we import audio files during podcast publishing, we perform validation on the incoming file before processing it. These are some of the reasons this validation step can fail, along with how to resolve them.
Incorrect file format
This occurs if our platform could not open the received file as valid audio data. This may be because:
- the wrong file was uploaded,
- the file is in an audio format we cant read,
- something went wrong during the uploading sequence and the file wasn't uploaded correctly.
Audio duration error
This error occurs when the metadata header in the audio file we receive indicates a different playback duration from the actual amount of audio we could open. This is to prevent scenarios where a damaged file is uploaded and then published with missing audio. This may happen sometimes during export from DAW tools or playout systems or during the file upload sequence.
Remedies
For both of these errors, we recommend the same steps:
- Double check that you are using the correct file,
- Open it in your audio editor and check that the actual audio matches the duration you expect,
- Export/save it as a new file in one of our supported file formats,
- Upload it again.
This resolves most cases, but if not please email our support team and attach the relevant audio file that is failing.
